HELP with the new blurb

I’ve spent some tortuous hours sweating over words for the back cover of my next new book, In the Deep End. It’s a contemporary romance and family saga to be released in April, (I hope!), if the grammar and spell checkers work!! I’ve sent it to an Editorial Assessor and am anxiously waiting for the feedback – usually to pull it apart and restructure the plot. So am braced for the onslaught. In the meantime, the blurb for the back of the book needs your help. PLEASE! Because the magic cover designer can’t do his job or get paid until this is firmly nailed down. NO Pressure People!!

 OPTION ONE:
This bold new novel examines the complexities of marriage and the love bonds that hold us and sometimes kill us. It explores the irrationalities of human nature with a riveting narrative that challenges social convention. This moving family saga contradicts moral stereotypes, defying love-bonds that should last a lifetime.

Set in California, two couples are lifelong friends struggling with the sudden death of Mila Jones, leaving her husband, Alex, alone with his best friends, Fred, and Amira Davis. Their story uses humour and poignancy to investigate their forbidden love. The characters move between New Zealand and America providing a vibrant backdrop for what seems like ordinary domestic life, while experiencing an extraordinary love affair, often captured in private emails exchanged between the main protagonists.

This century’s thinking woman will be captivated by this contemporary romance with its complex characters firmly tethered to reality. These well-crafted personalities buck social norms as they navigate their way through an emotional tempest that threatens to rupture them apart.

OR

OPTION TWO:

California, 2019, two couples are lifelong friends struggling with the sudden loss of Mila Jones, leaving her husband alone with his best friends Fred and Amira Davis. Their love story uses humor and poignancy to investigate their past and the unconventional love they share. They move between New Zealand and America in finding solutions for their heartbreak.

This bold new novel explores the complexities of marriage and navigates the love bonds that hold us and sometimes kill us. In the Deep End, explores the taboo subject of polyandry where a single wife is married to two or more husbands. This riveting story challenges social convention and dissects the emotional pain and pleasure of love, commitment, loyalty, and fidelity.

The rationalizing of contradictory and illogical actions by the main characters integrates into the reader’s imagination. It’s no more evident than when humans share a committed love and the risks they take to stop it falling apart.
